8th Street is led by Daniel Yearwood, a Trinidad and Tobago native with over twenty years of experience in financial markets and technology. An investor, advisor and fintech founder, Daniel holds an MBA from The Wharton School, a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard University, and a BSC in Computer Science from Morgan State University.
Previous experience includes an initial role as a consultant at Ernst & Young, valuing derivatives based on the then newly issued FAS 157 accounting guidelines for a global insurance company at the height of the financial crisis in 2008. Returning to Trinidad, Daniel joined Royal Bank of Canada as a credit analyst, covering a range of corporate clients within the Caribbean before moving across to the International Finance Corporation as an investment analyst covering infrastructure and natural resources projects in the region.
After returning to the US and completing his graduate studies, Daniel joined a California based hedge fund of funds focused on investing in startup hedge funds via bespoke customized investment accounts, eventually becoming the deputy to the global macro, structured credit and fixed income relative value portfolio manager. From there, Daniel joined AllianceBernstein in NYC, continuing to invest into hedge funds on the opposite end of the spectrum, typically larger funds with five or more years of track record.
Returning to California, Daniel joined a multifamily office as a generalist, broadening from investing in just hedge funds to also investing into venture, private equity, real estate, private credit and direct investments. Following this experience, Daniel left to focus on a fintech startup he founded full time, developing proprietary technology to forecast future cash flows for esoteric assets.
Combining all of the aforementioned experiences, Daniel created 8th Street to leverage his knowledge of investment analysis from the past and his conviction about where opportunities will lie in the future.
